Grace and Gratitude

It’s been two years in the making, but at last this painting is finished.  It began, like many of my paintings, in the pages of one of my art journals where I alow myself to play intuitively with colour, collage and completely uncensored writing.  It’s an emotional release and my personal art therapy.

This particular story that emerged in my journal pages took its time to appear and evolved over a period of time into a clear message that I had some unresolved grief to process from many years ago.   The painting is a love letter to my younger self with a message to let go of the ‘should-haves’, the ‘could-haves’ and most especially to let go of the expectations and opinions of other people.

It is a large painting with a complexity that is almost impossible to capture with a camera.  I have included some close ups to try and convey the depth and texture of the piece.
