Hat Gallery

I love making hats and always have one or two on the go.

All hats are made with my own hand dyed yarn and in some cases with yarn I have spun myself.  Special introductory prices range from £28 to £39 at the moment, depending on the amount of yarn used and complexity of the design.  Pompoms are attached with elastic to a button sewn on the inside, so can be removed or changed for a different colour.

The hats featured here are all either sold or in a gallery.  I am happy to make hats to order in your chosen colour and style, lead time is normally about two weeks, depending on current workload.  Please contact me for a chat if you’re interested and we can discuss style, colour, price and timing.

LEAD TIME UPDATE: I now have enough hat orders to keep me busy til mid January, so can’t fit in any more new ones before Christmas.

Rainbow Stripe Hat

A neutral grey base is paired with a rainbow dyed yarn in textured ridged stripes.  Paired with a removable pompom, so you can swap it out for any of the other colours featured in the rainbow stripes.

Mustard Textured Hat

Circles of ribbed stitches contrast with a diagonal textured section, giving lots of character to this bright yellow hat.

Pink Fairisle Hat

This is actually a crochet technique called mosaic, which gives a similar effect to knitted fair isle and allows multiple colours to create simple patterns.  Finished with a bright pink pompom for a bit of fun.

Norwegian Wool

Made from a norwegian wool, spun as a ‘single’ which means it is not plied with another strand so it shows the textured stitch definition really well.  Dyed in a denim blue shade and finished with crocheted tassels to give some movement.

Cable Brim Hat

Crocheted in a hand dyed aran weight teal mix yarn, the brim of this hat is a lovely twisted cable with a contrast band of rust tones.  Finished off with crocheted pompom tassels for that quirky, fun look.

Tunisian check

This hat is made with tunisian crochet which is an interesting technique often called a cross between crochet and knitting.  The resulting fabric is thicker than normal crochet and this hat is super squishy and warm as a result.  Tunisian has a natural curl, so this hat can be worn pulled down flat, or you can let the natural curl create a little rolled brim.  The inside resembles knitted garter stitch.

Lace Brim Hat

This fun stripey hat features a lace stitch brim, stripes of sunshine yellow and matching pompom, contrasting with a grey base.  I also have a pair of fingerless gloves made with the same grey.

Windmill Hat

This hat is made from an interesting merino wool yarn which is made up of two strands of organic merino and one strand of superwash merino.  The three strands are plied together and when dyed, the superwash strand takes the colour more intensely than the organic wool.  When knitted or crocheted, the resulting fabric has a tweedy look.

This hat has a very quirky “finial” on top made of short crocheted tassels which fan out in an almost spiral fashion.  A really fun hat to wear and sure to be a talking point.

Gradient mosaic hat

A hand dyed gradient yarn in autumnal russets and greens has been paired with a neutral grey in a mosaic pattern to create a fairisle look.  Finised with a fake fur pompom, the stitch pattern creates a thick, warm fabric.

Ribbed Beanie

A simple rib stitch brings out the variegated blues and teals of this hand dyed aran wool, finished with a fun fake fur jade green pompom.  Wear it loose and slouchy or turn up the brim for a more fitted beanie.

Handspun ribbed hat

Another ribbed hat, this time made with hand dyed, hand spun merino which I spun and plied together as a gradient.  What’s hard to see in the photos is that the ribbing is different at the brim, which makes it cinch in slightly to give a snug fit around the ears.

Striped Beret

For those who prefer a beret to a beanie, this hat can be made in a single colour, but the clever construction allows for a fun striped pattern.  Finished with a button or a pompom.
